The Trading Post Dinner House and Saloon is a fine steakhouse and so much more. It is offered for sale by the owners, who purchased it in 1990. It is located on Highway 130, a National Scenic by-Way, 27 miles west of Laramie, Wyoming, in the small mountain town of Centennial. At 8,000 feet, it sits at the foot of the Snowy Range Mountains, a year-round visual and recreation paradise, and is only five miles from the Snowy Range Ski Area.
This unique property has been improved and developed over the past 15 years and now presents a turn-key operation for a new owner. It is a large log building (120’ of highway frontage x54’ in depth) with an old western façade fronted by a large redwood deck. Contained within the building are a steakhouse restaurant with full bar, fully equipped kitchen, 50 seat dining room, dance hall (which can seat 30 more), and a theatre/dining room that provides additional dining seating (60) and is utilized regularly for dinner theatre productions. The building is fully handicapped accessible.
The Trading Post sits on a large parcel of property (nearly an acre) which provides several additional sources of income for the business. It has been beautifully landscaped (including a large English perennial garden just outside the main dining room windows) into a park/recreation area, which accommodates a variety of events.
Also behind the main building is a cozy rental cabin with full kitchen which is always in demand as well as a beautiful newly rebuilt log building that houses Centennial’s first art gallery.

This is a unique property in a unique place… beautiful, unspoiled and vibrant enough to provide us with a good living and a grand place to live.
Our 100 year-old Victorian-style residence is also for sale. It has been completely remodeled and is not only beautiful and comfortable but, quite conveniently, right next door to the business, which we have found to be an excellent arrangement.

Laramie, Wyoming

Just 27 miles east of Centennial at the junction of Innterstate I-80 and Scenic Highway 130, this historic city of 25,000 sprang up along the transcontinental railroad and grew up in the true tradition of the old West. The charming architecture reflects those roots. It was the site of the Territorial Prison seen often in old movies. Having been restored, it is now a popular tourist stop. Laramie has its own airport as well as an enormous recreation park, ice rink, golf course and numerouis shops and galleries. Business people and professionals from Laramie are a substantial part of the regular dining clientele of the Trading Post Dinner House and Saloon. They also bring clients and emnployees for special parties. Laramie is also home to the University of Wyoming; the state’s only four-year educational institution. This enhances the cultural, educational and athletic resources of the area. It also provides a rich source of customers for the Trading Post. Sports fans and alumna come from all over the state to attend athletic and other university events. Many of them come out to the best restaurant in the state, the Trading Post.

Snowy Range Ski Area

Centennial rests quietly below the white capped Snowy Range Mountains (photo below left, middle distance). Just 5 miles west of Centennial is the Snowy Range Ski Area (above). It is a friendly, family oriented area that is very beginner friendly, offering short lift lines and uncrowded slopes. It has four chair-lifts, a beginners lift and 27 runs ranging in difficulty from beginner to expert. The snowboard park has a half pipe. There is an excellent ski school, huge lodge, ski/board rental and short lift lines. The price is quite reasonable and fashion is not an issue. Cross-country ski trails can be accessed from the area as well

The Snowy Range Road — Highway 130, a National Scentic By-way — leaves Laramie , Wyoming,, and travels west through the open plains (photo on left) of the traditional old West where the deer and the antelope still play. After passing through the quaint, historic town of Centennial, it climbs as it winds the magnificent Snowy Range Mountains with towering peaks, glacial lakes and thick forests. On the other side of "The Range, " the landscape levels out into the lush North Platt River Valley.

Bar

This western saloon hosts a full range of beverages; a variety of beer including several microbrews, liquor of all types, high end lacquers, and a surprising number of fine wines all to accommodate the dining experience. The unique bar top is imbedded with artifacts donated years ago by residents representing the rich history of the area. A full-sized pool table goes with the establishment, as does an antique pinball machine and 60’s era 45 rpm jukebox. The view from the bar windows is of the lovely mountains and the rich Laramie River valley to the south, home to numerous large cattle ranches. The saloon becomes a social gathering place for the locals as well as a comfortable watering hole for the many visitors. Down the hall are two handicapped accessible restrooms finished in tongue and groove knotty aspen.

Dance Hall

Situated in the center of the building between the bar and the dining room, the old oak dance floor, besides offering additional dinner seating when needed, sees a great deal of use for dancing as well. Bands of all variety from jazz and blues to old time rock and roll love the acoustics and the easy atmosphere of the Trading Post. A riser on the north side of the room serves as a great stage. The warm wood and high ceilings of the room add to the ambiance.

Art Gallery

Formerly a rental cabin, this historic lob building has been beautifully rebuilt after it was gutted by fire. The structure and original logs were intact except along the front. Aware of the numerous artists in the area, the owners chose to create Centennial’s first gallery for the display and sale of their work. Aptly named, The Phoenix Gallery also houses a spinning / weaving studio as well as a wonderful variety of fine art ranging from contemporary and traditional paintings to one-of-a-kind pottery, stained glass and jewelry.
